TxSP has created a training module for campus administrators highlighting critical updates on child abuse and professional misconduct. This is in response to new compliance requirements introduced during the 89th legislative session, areas for which principals hold direct responsibility.

During district principals or assistant principal meetings, training could take 10-15 minutes. Both need the information. The training covers the following bills and information:

  • How schools report child abuse and misconduct.
  • Requirements to report abuse to DFPS AND law enforcement.
  • Requirements for principal reports on abuse to superintendents and superintendent reports to a new portal.
  • An overview of TEA’s role in investigating misconduct.
  • How to file a misconduct complaint.
  • Pre-employment or pre-service applications.
  • Liability and Immunity
  • Damages, court cases, and attorney fees.
